We are so fortunate, not only to have Barb care for our horses, but also to be able to call her "neighbor". As such, we have had the unique opportunity to experience first hand Barb's expertise when care is not routine. One only needs to visit to know that the horses under her care live an ilyllic existence, and she cares for each and every one as if they were her own. When we had a true medical emergency with our foundation broodmare, Barb's calm, competent manner and decisive actions before the vet arrived were key to our mare's survival. And she stayed by the mare's side for the many hours it took to stabilize her and transport her to Purdue University for the treatment that saved her life. I believe Barb Rudicel is the very best in caring for the broodmare until the mare foals. So often the mare needs extra nutrition to maintain the mare and foal. I have had surrogate mares that have needed to be specially looked after because the embryo is a special foal in my breeding program. At foaling time, Barb has her video camera working so they can see if the mare is about to foal. After the foal is here, it is cared for and is nurtured to be able to lead and have all its hooves cleaned. A fine, healthy foal is the result of the Raintree program.
